COLLARED SWEATER (IVORY) by Maya's Place — Review: Worth it?
Finding a comfortable, flattering ribbed top that moves easily between work, weekend, and layering can be surprisingly difficult. Many sweater tops either box you in with stiff fabric or stretch out after a few wears. The COLLARED SWEATER (IVORY) from Maya's Place promises a soft ribbed knit, a tailored long-sleeve silhouette, and inclusive sizing — all at a wallet-friendly price. This review looks at whether it delivers on comfort, fit, and everyday wearability.

Real-world experience
First impressions
The sweater arrives lightweight and pleasantly soft to the touch. The rib texture gives the fabric visual interest without bulk. The ivory color photographed true to life — a warm, creamy off-white that pairs well with neutrals and denim.
Fit and sizing
- Tailored fit: Cut closer to the body without being skin-tight. It skims the torso in most sizes.
- True to size for most: I found my usual size fit as expected. If you prefer a roomier sweater or heavier layering, consider sizing up one.
- Size inclusive: The range up to 3X is a strong plus compared with many budget brands.
Comfort and performance
- Softness: Rayon gives the sweater a smooth, almost silky hand that feels comfortable next to skin.
- Stretch and recovery: The 8% spandex provides good stretch for movement. Recovery is decent after wear, though heavy stretching will show temporary give.
- Warmth: Lightweight warmth — suitable for fall layering, indoor office wear, or mild winter days under a jacket.
- Pilling and durability: After multiple wears and gentle machine washing, pilling is minimal so far. Long-term durability will depend on care; rayon blends are more delicate than pure cotton or acrylic.
Styling and versatility
The collared neckline elevates the sweater above a basic tee — it works under blazers, with skirts, or tucked into high-waisted jeans. The ribbed texture adds shape without making the piece heavy, so it layers cleanly under coats.
Pros
- Very affordable at $26 with a clear original price point of $52 — strong value.
- Soft, comfortable rayon-spandex blend that feels higher-end than the price suggests.
- Inclusive size range (XS–3X).
- Tailored silhouette that flatters without clinging excessively.
- Versatile collared design that dresses up or down.
Cons
- Lightweight — not very insulating on its own in cold weather.
- Rayon requires more gentle care than sturdy cotton knits; prone to shape changes if not handled properly.
- Ivory color can show undergarment lines or stains more easily than darker colors.
“A smart everyday sweater — soft, flattering, and an easy grab for layering. Take care with washing, and it will serve well through the season.”
Quick comparison
Against Uniqlo ribbed tops (similar price range, around $25–$35)
- Uniqlo versions often use cotton or blended cotton for more structure and easier care. Maya's Place uses rayon/spandex, which feels softer and drapier but requires gentler handling.
- Uniqlo may offer more consistent shrink/shape resistance; Maya's Place wins on drape and the collared styling for a slightly dressier look.
Against H&M ribbed sweater tops (around $20–$30)
- H&M options are frequently acrylic or cotton blends and can be trend-forward. The Maya's Place sweater offers a smoother hand and a more tailored cut, plus broader size inclusivity.
- H&M can be hit-or-miss on long-term durability; the Maya's Place sweater feels solid for the price, but both brands benefit from careful washing.
Who this is best for
- Busy professionals who want a low-effort top that still looks put-together.
- Anyone who appreciates a soft, drapey knit over a stiff sweater.
- Shoppers looking for size-inclusive casual tops without a luxury price tag.
- People who layer often and want a slim-fitting piece to wear under jackets and cardigans.
Final verdict
The COLLARED SWEATER (IVORY) from Maya's Place is a solid everyday piece that punches above its price. At $26 (marked down from $52), it delivers a soft hand, a flattering tailored cut, and true size inclusivity. It isn't the warmest option on its own and requires a little care because of the rayon content, but for styling versatility and comfort, it’s a smart buy.
